NYT: Wordpress Web Developer

NYTimes.com, the #1 newspaper site with 1.7 million worldwide visitors a day, is seeking an experienced Wordpress Developer to manage our highly-trafficked and growing set of blogs (http://www.nytimes.com/blogs).  Beyond having experience with the Wordpress platform and its plug-ins, the ideal candidate will be a savvy, all-around web applications developer who is comfortable in a LAMP environment. This position is in the software development group of NYTimes.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years expertise in hand-coding HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and DHTML across a range of browsers
• 2-3 years experience programming in PHP
• 2-3 years experience developing and maintaining Wordpress blogs
• Strong working knowledge of SQL and Apache (mod_include a major plus)
• Experience working in a Unix environment (FreeBSD a plus)
• General familiarity with internet networking
• Enthusiasm for emerging technology, especially AJAX and Web 2.0 APIs

SixApart: Senior Software Engineer-Advertising System

Six Apart (www.sixapart.com), the company behind LiveJournal, Movable Type and TypePad, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the technical aspects of Six Apart’s advertising efforts across all its product lines, which include two of the most highly trafficked sites on the internet. The Senior Software Engineer-Advertising System will create and maintain an ad serving infrastructure, analyze the performance of various types of campaigns and optimize revenues from advertising. They will also define the approval processes for advertising campaigns and work cross-functionally to review and approve campaigns. The Senior Software Engineer-Advertising System is an interdisciplinary individual who works closely with Marketing and Sales, from within Engineering, to maximize advertising revenues while maintaining security and privacy.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain Six Apart’s ad serving infrastructure.
• Develop A/B testing protocols and continuously improve ad revenues.
• Evaluate proposed ad campaigns and perform any engineering duties necessary to roll them out.
• Write/deploy web-based reporting tools allowing access to and analysis of advertising campaigns.
