SixApart: UI Engineer

Six Apart (www.sixapart.com), the weblogging software and services company behind LiveJournal, Movable Type and TypePad, is looking for skilled and motivated user interface engineers to work with us in building our industry-leading products and services.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain user interfaces for LiveJournal and TypePad using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Perl.
• Work closely with the design, product and engineering teams to deliver an excellent user experience for Six Apart’s services.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and W3C DOM
• Experience implementing standards-based web application user interfaces
• Ability to cleanly implement a UI across different browsers (IE6, Mozilla/Firefox, Safari)
• Demonstrated understanding of how implementation choices impact user experience in terms of browser compatibility, accessibility and performance
• Willingness to work and lead in a fast-moving, dynamic and team-oriented environment
• BS in Computer Science or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience

Desirable

• Experience developing AJAX applications
• Experience integrating rich web interfaces with server-side code
• Experience in UI design and engineering of content-based applications such as blogs, photo albums, email, content management systems, etc.
• Previous experience developing with open source technologies, such as Perl, mod_perl, Template::Toolkit and/or Mason
• Experience with XML, Web Services, and Internationalization
